Legal Web e-book access help

Once you've purchased and paid for Legal Web e-book(s), you can access the e-books from the subscriber access page. You will only be able to access chapters in the e-books you have purchased.

First login with your email and password. Once you have logged in, infolaw will remember your login in a cookie. You can logout using the link at the top of the page. To protect your own privacy you should logout at the end of a session if your computer is used by others.

Multi-use purchasers should apply for a separate site login if required - email subscribe@infolaw.co.uk.

Get Adobe Reader

The Legal Web e-books are published in chapters in Adobe PDF format. To view the PDF documents you'll need a recent version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader. Get the latest version free from Adobe ...

Viewing PDFs

You can view the chapters online or save them to your local computer and then view them. We recommend the latter, partcularly for those without broadband connections and for multi-use purchasers who will wish to post the PDFs on their networks.

To view online, click on the chapter link. There will be a delay while Adobe starts, our system checks your credentials and the chapter loads. Once a chapter has been viewed it will remain in your browser's cache and will load very quickly when you return to it in the same session.

To save locally, right-click on the first chapter link and select Save Target As. Then browse to the folder where you wish to save it (we suggest you create a new folder) and Save. Repeat this process for each chapter, saving all chapters in the same folder.

To view locally, we suggest you open the PDF from your browser as you will be clicking back and forth to the web. From your browser, select File - Open and then browse to the chapter you require. You can also of course open the PDF directly in Adobe Acrobat.

Acrobat help

For help using Adobe Reader please use the Help menu provided within Acrobat. Following are some basic pointers to get you started.

  • Each PDF will open at the top of page 1 with the page scaled to fit the width of the window.
  • Use the Zoom tool or drop-down to adjust the scaling as desired.
  • Click the Bookmarks tab on the left to view the contents list for the chapter. The main section headings are listed. Click on the heading to jump to that section. Click on the + next to the heading to view the list of sub-sections.
  • Clicking on a link will open the linked web page. Note that in Adobe when a web link is active the pointer changes to a hand with a "W".

Trouble-shooting

Following are known issues:

  • The PDFs may be viewed with Adobe Reader 5.0 and above, but there are some behavioural deficiencies using version 5.
  • There are known incompatibilities between some versions of Adobe Reader and some versions of Internet Explorer which may result in a blank page displaying when you access a chapter.

Should you encounter these or other problems viewing the PDFs, the most likely solution will be to upgrade your version of Adobe Reader - get it now.

Should this not resolve the issue, please email support\@infolaw.co.uk.
