Advertise in the Internet Newsletter for Lawyers

A multi-media publication

The Internet Newsletter for Lawyers started life as a printed journal but now it is a multi-media publication, provided in print, distributed in PDF and available online.

From an advertiser's point of view, each medium has different strengths and we seek to give advertisers the most effective exposure in each.

We believe that we are at the leading edge of legal publishing – and we intend to stay there!

Profile of subscribers

The Newsletter in one or more of its forms goes to around 1,100 law firms and legal bodies:

  • Firms of solicitors: 800
  • Chambers and individual barristers: 200
  • Legal libraries and other legal bodies, universities, legal publishers, suppliers to the legal profession, legal press and journals: 100

The majority of the firms are smaller and medium sized practices - they like the Newsletter's broad appeal, ie the recipients are not "just" specialists in marketing, or libraries/legal research, or e-commerce or website management or IT, but they are interested in topics which cross all these boundaries.

Types of subscription

  • Personal print subscription (includes online+PDF access) £50 p.a.
  • Personal online + PDF subscription £30+VAT p.a. (includes online + pdf access but no printed copy)
  • Multi-use subscription £80+VAT p.a. This includes a print copy and access for everyone in the firm or chambers to the pdf and online versions.

Advertiser exposure

From the advertiser's point of view, in 2012 there will be:

  • 500-600 printed newsletters going out for each issue
  • 1,100 people receiving the PDF of each issue directly in their inbox
  • 1,100 people with full access to the online version
  • 70 of these firms with site-wide access to the online and PDF versions
  • additional non-subscriber exposure to the online version.

The online Newsletter is published with WordPress blog software; consequently all pages are frequently indexed and have a high exposure in the search engines.

The Newsletter (www.infolaw.co.uk/newsletter) receives around 8,000 page views a month.

Publication dates

The Newsletter is published every other month, at the beginning of January, March, May, July, September and November.

Types of advertising

There are three types of advertising available:

  • Display adverts (in the printed Newsletter, the PDF and the online version)
  • Inserts sent out with the Newsletter plus pdf and online exposure
  • Sponsoring the online Newsletter

Each of these is described in more detail on the next page.

Display adverts (which appear in the printed Newsletter, the PDF and the online version)

There are six or seven display advertisements in each issue of the Newsletter. Each advertiser receives:

  • A one-quarter page advert in the printed Newsletter (18 cm x 6.75 cm)
  • In the PDF version, the advert is hyperlinked to the advertiser's website
  • A direct link to the advertiser's website is placed in the left hand sidebar of the online version which appears on all Newsletter page views ("title" text including the advertiser's current message is also included)
  • A banner advert (468 by 60 pixels, an industry standard) is displayed in rotation for all advertisers on all page views of the Newsletter.

The cost per insertion with all the above benefits is £200 plus VAT. Modest discounts are allowed for longer runs of adverts booked, and paid for, together.

Inserts sent out with the Newsletter plus online display

There are at most 3 or 4 inserts going out in any one issue, and a maximum overall weight (Newsletter and inserts) of 100 grams. We do not want people to empty their Newsletter envelope over a wastepaper bin! Each insert advertiser receives:

  • Their insertion sent to 500/600 print subscribers
  • A mention on page 2 of the Newsletter, linked to their website in the PDF version
  • A direct link to the advertiser's website is placed in the left hand sidebar which appears on all Newsletter page views ("title" text including the advertiser's current message is also included)
  • A banner advert (468 by 60 pixels) is displayed in rotation for all advertisers on all page views of the Newsletter

The cost per insertion with all the above benefits:

  • Single A4 page / up to 9 g - £180 plus VAT
  • Double A4 page / up to 18 g - £250 + VAT
  • Triple or more A4 pages or strange shapes and sizes: it depends on what other inserts are already booked - please ask!

Sponsoring the online Newsletter

This category of advertising is designed to enhance the advertiser's online presence.

The online Newsletter is growing in importance. It is published with WordPress blog software; consequently all pages are frequently indexed and have a high exposure in the search engines. The Newsletter receives around 8,000 page views a month.

Each sponsor receives:

  • A mention on page 2 of the Newsletter, linked to their website in the PDF version
  • A direct keyword link chosen by the sponsor, placed in the left hand sidebar which appears on all Newsletter page views ("title" text including the advertiser's chosen message is also included)
  • A banner ad (468 by 60 pixels) is displayed (in rotation for all advertisers) on all page views of the Newsletter

Sponsorships cost £370 plus VAT for 6 months (3 issues) or £650 plus VAT for a year (6 issues).
