Sponsored Features

Sponsored Features provide an effective way for suppliers to promote their products and services to lawyers via targeted editorial copy placed in the online version of the well-regarded Internet Newsletter for Lawyers and promoted in the Newsletter and on infolaw.co.uk and venables.co.uk.

The articles

Articles will be accepted on any topic of interest to lawyers, particularly topics where use of the internet is an important feature. Articles may promote any relevant product or service and may be in the form of case studies, white papers or more straightforward "advertorial".

Nick and Delia retain editorial control of the articles and can refuse any they do not think suitable but subject to this, the article will be published as provided by the advertiser with minor edits.

Articles should be supplied as Word docs or as html (no PDFs please) and may be up to 1500 words in length and contain one or two (maximum) pictures or straightforward graphics. They will be restyled in html according to the Newsletter style.

Exposure in the Newsletter

Sponsored Features are published in the online version of the Newsletter in the same way as normal Newsletter articles, but they are identified as "Sponsored Features" and are available to all viewers, not just Newsletter subscribers.

They are promoted under the "Sponsored Features" heading in the right hand side bar for 6 months. The title of the article is shown, with a brief description appearing on hover, linked to the web page of the article itself.

Articles are categorised by subject and listed in the Subject Index in the right hand sidebar and they are indexed for search purposes in the same way as normal Newsletter articles. As well as being accessed from the Newsletter home page, or found in the search process, each article has a unique permanent URL to aid search engine indexing and also so that the advertiser can refer potential customers direct to the article, if desired.

The article itself will remain on the Newsletter site for at least a year so it can still be found if a viewer does a search using key words found in the article, or if Google has referenced the page. Also, any direct links to the article will continue to work.

However, to be clear, there will not be promotion of the article from our various home pages (described further below) after the initial 6 months.

Exposure on venables.co.uk

There is a section on the Venables home page providing a brief description of each of the Sponsored Features. This is the same description as the one on the Newsletter home page and it links to the article located on the Newsletter site. The Feature's descriptions will stay in this section of the home page for 6 months, although getting progressively lower in the list as newer ones are put in at the top.

Depending on the topic covered (e.g. software, jobs, cpd, publishers, web design/marketing) there will also be a reference to the Feature on the appropriate sub-section e.g. www.venables.co.uk/moneylaundering.htm, www.venables.co.uk/software.htm, www.venables.co.uk/jobs.htm, www.venables.co.uk/cpd.htm, www.venables.co.uk/publish.htm or www.venables.co.uk/services.htm.

Exposure on infolaw.co.uk

Links to the articles appear in the bottom right of the infolaw home page headed Sponsored Features - latest on top.

The title of the article is used as anchor text and a description of the article as title text (which appears when hovering on the link).

Links remain in place for 6 months.

Summary

1. Nick Holmes and Delia Venables retain overall editorial control and a right to refuse articles.

2. Subject to this, the article is provided by the advertiser. This can be up to 1500 words with at most two pictures or (straightforward) graphics and as many links as desired.

3. The article is placed in the Newsletter site, categorised and indexed together with normal articles, and shown in the right hand sidebar of the Newsletter home page under "Sponsored Features", latest on top. Each article has a unique URL.

4. As well as linking on the Newsletter site, there are similar links from the infolaw and Venables home pages and additional links on particular sections of the Venables site, as appropriate.

5. Links to the articles will last 6 months, but the article itself will stay on the Newsletter site for a full year. (An article could, however, be removed by the advertiser at any time.)
