After the Event Insurance (ATE Insurance) Policies Designed to Benefit the SolicitorAfter The Event Insurance from Box LegalWe specialise in arranging After The Event Insurance (also known as ATE Insurance) for all types of Personal Injury claims. All ATE Insurance cover premiums are fixed in price at a level which is recoverable. Payment of the premium is deferred until costs are received by the solicitor, so there is no need for a Consumer Credit Act agreement and hence no deduction from a client's damages. Administration is very simple with the After the Event Insurance policy being cancellable at any time without penalty or cost. For more information, visit the Box Legal website. Why do you need After the Event Insurance? Most solicitors will act for an injured person under a Conditional Fee Insurance Agreement, also known as a 'No Win, No Fee' agreement. This means that, should you lose your claim, your solicitor will not charge you for the legal expenses that they have spent on the claim. However, you will remain responsible for any expenses that they have incurred, for example a medical report or Court fees. In addition, you will also be liable for your opponent's legal costs. We can arrange After The Event Insurance which will pay for any expenses or your opponent's legal costs up to £25,000 if your case is lost. In addition, your solicitor is able to recover the cost of the ATE premium from the defendant if your claim is successful. Therefore, if your solicitor uses our After the Event Insurance scheme, win or lose, you will never have to pay anything. ATE Insurance policies, Supplied by Solicitors...for SolicitorsOur ATE Insurance scheme has been designed by solicitors, so it shouldn't be a surprise that our policies are designed with the needs of the solicitor in mind rather than the insurer. The solicitor is able to remain in control of their claims, rather than being dictated to by the underwriter. Case managementWe use and recommend Proclaim, the leading Case Management System (CMS) created by Eclipse Legal Systems Ltd. If your firm also uses Proclaim for dealing with Personal Injury work, we will be glad to provide case management system integration free of charge. We can help you to remove all routine administration required in dealing with our After The Event Insurance scheme. We create links to your standard letters which allows the system to automatically produce a report listing those cases requiring ATE Insurance. In addition, we can set up a screen on your system which deals with ATE Insurance and allows your fee earners to:

After the Event Insurance BlogBox Legal have created an After the Event Insurance blog with the aim of providing news, advice and guidance on all issues around ATE Insurance and making personal injury claims. We welcome comments and questions from all interested parties. Visit the After the Event Insurance Blog now. About Box LegalBox Legal was created and is still run today by former partners of KSB Law Solicitors, Simon Pinner and Daniel Morris. In 1999 they set up the specialist Personal Injury Department for Kingsford Stacey Blackwell which was described at the time by The Times newspaper as "The law office of the future". Using the latest technology and new approach to client care, the department grew from 3 to 80 staff within two years. In 2001, Simon and Daniel began to focus on the After The Event Insurance market, optimistic that could help solicitors deal with the many problems they faced in purchasing and administering the ATE policies available at the time. In conjunction with the KSB Law partnership, Daniel and Simon developed a product for solicitors which an ATE insurer would back and which would allow KSB Law to insure its cases without the hassle of long application forms, file reporting or audits. In 2003, Daniel and Simon saw an opportunity to offer ATE Insurance products to other solicitor firms and purchased Box Legal from KSB Law, and by so doing, opened up the After the Event Insurance scheme to other solicitor practices.
