Launched in 1993, UniRom Systems is dedicated to providing services which allow information users to maximize the benefits of their information resources.

We focus on professional publishing markets including legal publishing, Scientific, Technical and Medical (STM) publishing and internal corporate publishing of high value information. Our services include business led consulting on system design, tailored CD and Web publishing solutions and outsourcing of publisher content management.

We are established as a Business Partner for FAST's NXT4 and Folio suite of publishing tools, and with established partners such as infolaw and Hampton Data Services, we are able to provide a comprehensive service to meet our clients' needs. See technologies for more information.

Supporting our FAST implementations we have extensive expertise in relational databases, filter development including SGML and XML, and web technology. The services we provide range from consulting on ways of best leveraging investment in information to the development of full electronic publishing solutions. Either on our own or in partnership with other specialist companies we are able to provide advice and expertise in all aspects of electronic publishing and distribution of information.

Corporate (Internal) Publishing

Implementation of intranets using Microsoft and FAST tools - particularly delivery of electronic documents from repositories to end users. Development of publishing environments fully customized to customer workflow often based around database technologies such as MS Access or SQL Server.

We can offer document repository solutions on CD-ROM using Adobe Acrobat, using the search features of Acrobat to provide fuller document access.

Data Capture

We are able to manage the data capture and population of in-house information systems. Our association with Hampton Data Services allows us to provide an intranet based capture and publishing service for heterogeneous collections of high value paper and electronic documents.

Typesetting & Electronic Publishing

Our partnership with infolaw allows us to deliver paper typesetting and electronic publishing as a package, as well as integration of complex document composition in end users' word processing packages using HotDocs technology.

We are able to handle extraction and professional typesetting using QuarkXPress. As an alternative we also offer expertise in typesetting using the LaTeX typesetting system.

Image processing: we can interpret and include graphics of any format in our publishing processes.
